More opportunities for Fijian students

Fiji’s High Commissioner to India, Yogesh Karan is optimistic that there will be more opportunities for Fijians to study in India.

Karan says he is negotiating with the Indian government to increase the number of scholarships.

“I have put a submission to the Indian government for an increase. We had an increase back two years and I am looking forward for more seats in the next quarter."

About 100 Fijian students are currently on Indian government scholarships.

Karan says students on Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholarships are performing well.

The scholarships cover tourism, media studies, ICT, language and a host of other programmes.
