The Ministry of Employment is holding recruitment drives outside the urban areas for it’s Seasonal Workers Programme with New Zealand and Australia.

Minister Jioji Konrote says they want to start filling up the Ready-Employment starting from the rural areas

He says there isn’t a quota for each province as they are taking in only those who meet the criteria.

Right now the program is focussed on getting rural youths from the villages. It doesn’t mean that we are going to ignore our unemployed youth in the urban centres. No! Hopefully when the program works and we can send more people, then we will take them in.”

Due to it’s limited resources and manpower the Ministry has engaged the services of the Ministry of Provincial Development, District offices as well as Commissioners offices.

When workers are wanted, the Ministry pulls out those in the Ready-Employment Pool – as they have gone through the process and have met all the requirements.
