The milk production of each cow in the dairy sector is a concern in the dairy industry.

Agriculture minister Inia Seruiratu says a cow producing three to five litres of milk daily is not enough to cater for the dairy production.

Seruiratu says the same cow in other overseas countries are producing 30 to 40 litres of milk daily.

While challenging farmers during the artificial insemination workshop last week, Agriculture minister, Inia Seruiratu says farmers should not give excuses as the government is providing the relevant resources to them.

He adds with the relevant resources available, dairy farmers are urged to play their part to help enhance the dairy industry.

“Despite government creating the environment for us to prosper and improve, but if we have problems with the partnership, we will not be able to achieve whatever intentions that we have. We can have the best resources, we can have the best technology and all the money, but if we have the wrong attitude and the wrong people, then definitely all these will be an exercise in vein.”

Seruiratu says the ministry has also bring new breed of cows from overseas together with expertise to help maximize dairy production.
