A 22-year-old military recruit, who drowned in the Waidalice River near Korovou town on Tuesday, will be buried today at the Nasinu Cemetery.

Oscar Meli Damudamu from Nakasaleka in Kadavu was part of the group of soldiers crossing the river when the accident occurred.

The young recruit was participating in a field exercise with other recruits who were part of the 12-week basic military training.

QEB office confirms the church service was held in the Vatuwaqa Methodist Church.

Damudamu is survived by his parents who came from Kadavu to farewell their son.
