Fiji Ports, Chief Executive Vajira Piasena says the quotation to salvage the wrecks has been finalized by a salvaging company – Pacific Towing together with an allocated amount.

However, Piasena says he cannot reveal the amount but hopes to receive the required funds as soon as possible.

“We basically cannot disclose the quotation because it’s a selective sort of quotation and if we disclose the quotation it will have some impact if we have taken out some quotation from different other parties and unfortunately we cannot disclose the amount at this stage.”

Meanwhile, 19 wrecks have been required to be removed but Fiji Ports has identified 14 as priority ones.
