A 26 year old man from Labasa has been sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for four counts of rape.

Hind Munishwar Lal called an 18 year old girl to his house last year under the pretext of getting university papers and raped her. He then took explicit pictures with his mobile phone.

Lal then threatened her to come to him demanding sex, or he would release the pictures on the social media namely Facebook.

He summoned the girl three more times between February and March.

The matter was later brought to the attention of police and Lal was charged.

The mobile phone and a flash drive were confiscated and tendered as evidence.

Lal will be eligible for parole after 12 years.
