Kumar holds meetings in Macau

The Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Local Government, Housing and Community Development, Premila Kumar has met with a high level delegation in Macau.

Kumar stated that this was Fiji’s first official visit to Macau and the beginning of a new economic relation between the two countries.

This new economic relation between the two countries she says is crucial as it also strengthens relations with greater China.

Kumar notes that Macau has successfully embraced sustainability, especially in terms of environment and urban development.

Knowledge sharing she says, capacity building on technology, research and environmentally-friendly sustainable policies are key areas of cooperation for the two countries.

Kumar who launched the Macau-Fiji Chamber of Commerce says she looks forward to their contribution and assistance, especially in taking the two countries economic relations further and creating more business-to-business relations between Fiji and Macau.

She also stated that with the flight connectivity through Hong Kong, Macau would be able to import more agricultural produce directly from Fiji.

Both Fiji and Macau agreed that there were various areas in which the two countries could cooperate with each other, using China’s Belt and Road Initiatives.
