December 8, 2019 4:10 pm

The judicial system will soon be digitalized to allow the country to adapt to the ever-growing digital world says Acting Chief Justice Kamal Kumar.

Speaking at the 21st Attorney-General’s Conference, Kumar says the current filing system for court cases on trial are time consuming and costly in certain instances.

Presenting on the topic of Paperless Courts, Kumar says they should be ready to accept the change brought about by technology developments over the years.

He states the Judicial Department has been quite slow to change the system to keep updated with technological developments.

Kumar also stresses they are in the process of modernizing Fiji’s court systems to allow proceedings to be readily made available at the earliest.

The project is being funded by the European Union and UNDP.
