Five-year jail for death over cattle argument

A 55-year-old farmer of Naitasiri has been jailed for five years for one count of manslaughter.

Sele Caucau had an argument with his neighbour over livestock straying into the property of the deceased.

The Suva High Court was told that the neighbor, Maika Tuinakelo, hacked the bull after finding it in his garden.

Caucau then repeatedly punched and kicked the deceased who suffered serious injuries and died two days later.

Caucau has a non-parole period of 4 years.
