Fiji has called on the Federated States of Micronesia for a collective voice in the lead up to the United Nations Conference on Climate change at the end of the year.

This was highlighted by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama in a message to the FSM president Peter Christian.

Bainimarama was congratulating FSM on their 29th National Day anniversary and used the occasion to call on FSM for a unified voice from the region at the Paris conference.

Bainimarama reiterated Fiji’s continued friendship with FSM and will stand with Micronesia as they head to the World Climate Summit at the end of November.

Bainimarama says a united voice from the Pacific would add weight towards the push for more effective cuts in carbon emissions, especially by larger industrialised nations.
