The Electoral Commission says it made its own observations from pre-polling to polling throughout the four divisions.

Commission chair Chen Bunn Young says they are satisfied with themselves that the elections were carried out in a free and fair manner.

“It’s good to know this view has been endorsed independently by the Multinational Observer Group and more importantly I should say you the voters who turned up in unprecedented numbers. Now the counting has been going on a continuous basis and what happened is a good proportion of the results has been phoned in to the National Tally Centre. Some were delivered. The Electoral Decree has provided for procedures for the Supervisor of Elections to follow. The Electoral Commission we are waiting for him to provide the final national results tally."
