The Fijian Elections Office has taken the approach that the election reports are always useful in the evolution of the election practices of the country.
Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem says they have noted that there are some genuine procedural recommendations by the Multinational Observer Group which is reflected in their report.
Saneem says they will be considering some of these recommendations.
“It is an emerging practice internationally now to audit the voter’s register. There are some institutions that undertake such tasks and we will consider this positively. The more verification of the role the higher the level of integrity and we aspire to the highest level of integrity of our voters register and we will take some of these kinds of recommendations on board.”
Saneem says soon they will start a consultative process with stakeholders, political parties and the media to further improve the 2022 general elections.
Meanwhile, the MOG released their report on Wednesday afternoon, calling it well-administered, with voting and counting transparent and credible.
