Dr Jiko Luveni to rest at her family residence for the night

The funeral cortege of the late Speaker Dr. Jiko Luveni left the MIOT hospital in Suva at 3pm today.

For the last time, the cortege drove through Constitution Avenue and paused at the Parliament building, before heading for her residence at Hamilton Beattie Street in Domain.

Parliament staff gathered at the entrance of the building to pay their final respect.

The late Speaker will rest at her family residence for the night before the church service at the Centenary Church at 10am tomorrow and then the final funeral rituals at the Lovonilase Cemetery.

Deputy Speaker Veena Bhatnagar was also part of the cortege and hundreds gathered at late Speaker’s residence this afternoon.
