Key national officials in the justice sector from the Pacific are currently meeting in Nadi to discuss the importance of access to justice.
The Program Manager, Andrew Harrington says the participants will over the next two days present, discuss and validate findings of ‘Access to Justice and Rule of Law in their different countries.
Harrington says issues of access to justice and traditional justice will be two main topics of discussion during the conference.
“Making sure that there is an enabling legal framework for everybody based on the rule of law meaning that it’s applied equally to everybody, institutions in place to uphold those laws in cases to which justice can be sought and also people having knowledge of what those rights and laws are.”
Harrington adds that it’s also important for people to know their rights and ways of accessing justice.
