Waisake Tulavu

A 46-year-old pastor charged with four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault was today denied bail.

The Suva High Court heard that Waisake Tulavu allegedly raped three church members aged 22, 29 and 32 in Nasinu last year.

Tulavu’s bail application was denied.

It is alleged that Tulavu and 50-year-old senior church pastor Sakiusa Nakutoro raped the three victims.

Nakutoro is charged with one count of rape.

The defense filed the bail application on the grounds that the accused is a first offender.

The defense also assured the court that the accused will come to court during all his cases.

The state objected to bail saying there is a possibility of the accused interfering with the victims.

The matter has been adjourned to March 15th.
