A man from Koro Island charged with one count of rape has been granted bail by the Suva High Court.

It is alleged that on 26th June this year, the man raped a 15-year-old when she went to the accused person’s house to borrow his phone to make a call.

The accused and victim were neighbours.

Prosecution did not object to bail but requested for strict bail conditions.

The accused has been released on a $1000 surety bond and has been ordered to stay with his surety in Nasinu.

He has also been ordered not to go to Koro Island until the case is over.

The accused has been advised not to obtain any travel documents and not to re-offend whilst on bail.

The matter will be recalled tomorrow for mention.
