Former military officer Rajiv Padhyachi

Military officer Rajiv Padhyachi has been convicted of one count of attempted murder.

The judge while delivering the judgment today said that he agrees with the guilty opinion of the assessors.

The judge stated that he was satisfied with the evidence led by the prosecution.

Padhyachi is convicted of attempting to murder his partner in Colo-i-Suva last year.

The court heard that on 15th September last year, the 28-year-old tried to kill his partner by drowning her in a Colo-i-Suva pool.

It was revealed that he pushed her into the water and tried to drown her.

Sentence hearing and mitigation will be heard on Thursday next week.
