Five men face court for allegedly breaking into a mosque

Five men appeared at the Labasa High Court today for allegedly breaking into a mosque and stealing a huge amount of cash.

The five appeared before Judge Justice Daniel Gounder maintaining their not guilty plea.

It’s alleged that Abbu Yasin and Mohammed Hussein broke into the Macuata Muslim League headquarters office at Naseakula on the 11th of August last year and walked away with over $4,000 cash.

They are both charged with one count of aggravated burglary and theft.

Abdul Khan, Shahir Mohammed and Tazim Mohammed are charged with receiving the stolen money.

All the money have since been recovered.

The case has been adjourned to the 24th of May for a further pre-trial conference.

Their bail has been further extended.

The five were students at the mosque studying religious education.
