“We have one project in Waimaru, Rakiraki starting on Friday, where we will be doing the ground breaking ceremony. So if the cement is not there, that project can be put on hold because everything starts with concrete and if it’s not there, we can’t do any project. Lagilagi project in Raiwaqa has been stopped due to the issue. We are not able to get blocks from any of the suppliers.”

Pacific Cement Limited, one of the biggest supplies has stopped production due to mechanical problems at its factory.

Chief executive, Sowani Tuidrola, says the frequent breakdown is because of the old age of the factory.

The company has ordered parts overseas which is expected to arrive next month.
