Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho has welcomed his Vanuatu counterpart Albert Nalpini to Fiji on an educational visit.

Commissioner Nalpini paid a courtesy visit to the Police Headquarters this morning before continuing his tour of various Units where he will be briefed on their functions.

The educational tour is consistent with the Fiji Police’s initiative to assist fellow Pacific Island policing institutions and is also in line with the people to people exchange with fellow Melanesian Spearhead Group countries.

Commissioner Nalpini noted that given it’s his first official visit, Fiji was the best place to start because of the cultural similarities. He adds that he has been impressed with what he’s seen of police operation and the conduct of Fijian officers.

Brig-Gen Qiliho said the Fiji Police Force stands ready to assist fellow Pacific island nations with training opportunities and recently officers were sent to assist Vanuatu Police with community policing.

The Vanuatu Commissioner’s visit will include tours of the Police Special Response Unit, Fiji Police Academy, Forensics Department, the Police Command & Coordinating Centre as well as the Police Band.
