A bowl of dhal has landed a thirty-nine-year-old man in jail as he was sentenced to three years and nine months imprisonment by the Suva High Court this morning.
Aisake Vana Junior was convicted for one count of manslaughter by the Suva High Court Judge Justice Vincent Perera yesterday.
He killed his younger brother following an argument over a bowl of dhal at their residence in Kalabu, Nasinu last year.
Junior killed his younger brother by stabbing him using a knife.
After stabbing his brother, Junior left him bleeding in the house and went to his friend’s place.
Justice Perera said to promote wellbeing in the society the court will not be lenient towards people who cause someone’s death due to anger.
Junior is eligible to apply for parole after serving one year and nine months imprisonment.
