A 53-year-old man has been sentenced to two years imprisonment for one count of arson.
Kupua Bakoa pleaded guilty to one count of arson in the Labasa High Court earlier this month.
The Court heard that Bakoa set fire to the Rabi Council of Leaders Building in Nuku Rabi Island in November last year.
He committed the offence as he was not happy with some decisions made by the members of the Rabi Council.
Bakoa is also charged with one count of criminal intimidation as he threatened a police constable with a cane knife.
High Court Judge Salesi Temo has ordered that since the offence is pursuant to section 4 of the Criminal Procedure Decree 2009, it is remitted to the Labasa Magistrates Court.
This matter will be called before Resident Magistrate Cama Tuberi on 10th November.
