Tourism Minister, Faiyaz Koya, says the new Fiji Airways A330-300 aircraft will positively reflect on the tourist numbers to our shores.

The new plane, named the Island of Rotuma, was welcomed into the country this morning.

Koya says the onus is now on the Industry to raise the bar in selling Fiji as a destination in the US and East Asia markets that have a connecting link through Singapore.

“Fiji Airways actually fly the flag when they up their game everyone does too. This also goes with the growth market that we have been actually been talking about India and Chine etc, and the Singapore acts as feeder station for us. It will be great for Fiji in terms of numbers. And the addition to flights to San Francisco is also another traditional part of our traditional market so it will be great addition for the numbers to come for Fiji for the next year.”

The aircraft has a capacity for 289 passengers in economy class and 24 business class passengers. The leased Airbus A330-300 is expected to enter service next month after clearing local civil aviation requirements.
