The Director of Public Prosecutions has to date charged 60 people with sedition in three separate matters.

The individuals were arrested between the Sigatoka and Ra corridor over the past three weeks.

Their charges vary from sedition, urging political violence and urging communal antagonism.

A second group of 16 people was charged and produced at the Nadi Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon.

DPP Christopher Pryde says at this stage there is no evidence to suggest this matter is related to the other group from Ra that was charged with sedition last month.

He adds, these matters are not related to members of an alleged para-military style training group who have also been charged with sedition.
