June 4, 2018 5:10 am

About thirty people have returned their M-Paisa cards after realizing they were ineligible recipients for the Homes CARE program.

Permanent Secretary for Social Welfare, Dr Josefa Koroivueta says they’re thankful to these families as they continue to help those who really need the assistance.

Dr Koroivueta says that they have assisted about forty-four thousand families amounting to $47million.

He says people cannot cheat the program as everything is on record.

“We have in our system the ability to pick up those that have already collected M-Paisa cards and we have seen people being turned away at the first processing desk. We have to be honest with ourselves, if you are not affected, then you should not be coming for the homes care program.”

The ministry is currently in Tavua assisting 3,700 people before moving to Ra later this week.
