Three men are in police custody for the death of a 28 year old laborer of Lakena in Nausori over the weekend.
The victim was allegedly assaulted by the three men on Saturday night after a night out at a club.
The incident occurred at about 11pm and the victim was taken to the Nausori Health Centre before he was transferred to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital.
Unfortunately the victim succumbed to injuries sustained during the assault.
Police Chief of Intelligence and Investigations Henry Brown says this is another liquor related death and they’re pleading with people to drink responsibly.
Brown says the over indulgence of alcohol can lead to tragic circumstances as a few hours of enjoyment can turn into a lifetime of regret.
He is advising the public to take this issue seriously.
