The NextGen Alliance says its candidate numbers could continue to grow, with more than 30 people either accepted or still applying to contest under the party banner.

Party General Secretary Fredrick Kataiwai says 20 candidates have been cleared for public announcement, while more than 10 others have already received acceptance but are yet to be formally unveiled.

“We have another, more than 10 that already have the acceptance. But they are holding on, not to announce it yet. And we still have applications that are coming in, as much as possible.”

He says the Alliance had initially planned to focus on around 30 of the 55 seats.

However, he says it remains open to more candidates as applications continue to come in.

The party says candidates will be introduced publicly through its social media platforms as it prepares for the next general election.

It has also begun a listening tour, which it says will allow communities to have a say in shaping its final manifesto.
