Argentina came from behind at Murrayfield to beat Scotland 33–24, scoring five unanswered tries in a stunning second-half comeback.
Scotland had dominated the opening stages. Jack Dempsey’s 13th-minute burst opened the scoring, before Darcy Graham’s aerial take set up Ewan Ashman’s first try. Ashman struck again four minutes into the second half, finishing a counter-attack sparked by Argentina’s failure to find touch, giving the hosts what looked like an unassailable lead.
But the match turned sharply when Argentina introduced five replacements in the 45th minute. A loose Finn Russell pass allowed Rodrigo Isgro to intercept, leading to Scotland conceding a penalty and losing Blair Kinghorn to the sin-bin. From the resulting pressure, captain Julián Montoya powered over for Argentina’s first points.
Isgro crossed again minutes later after a break from Juan Martín González, though a Russell penalty briefly pushed Scotland 24–12 ahead. The momentum, however, had shifted decisively.
Lock Pedro Rubiolo muscled over with 10 minutes remaining, cutting the gap to five, before sustained pressure set up Pablo Matera for the try that handed Argentina the lead for the first time. Santiago Carreras’ conversion made it 26–24, and the Pumas completed the turnaround in the final minute when Justo Piccardo finished in the corner.
Argentina’s late surge silenced Murrayfield and secured a remarkable comeback victory.
