Barbara Malimali has been suspended as Commissioner of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption.
The President issued the notice today.
He has also revoked the appointment of Lisiate Fotofili as Acting Deputy Commissioner.
FBC News understands that the President’s decision could be part of the recommendations made to him by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
Earlier this year, a Commission of Inquiry was appointed to determine the process used and validity of Malimali’s appointment.
Following months or Inquiry, the reports were then submitted to the Prime Minister.
He had told the media the report will be made public until last Friday when he decided otherwise.
The Prime Minister can only say at the time that the report revealed to him that some of the things he suspected happening were really happening.
We have this afternoon attempted to get comments from Malimali, Rabuka and even FICAC and we are awaiting their responses.
Stay with us for more.
