The Fiji Football Association is hoping to have Churchill Park as the venue for the semifinals and final of the 2019 Inkk BOG tournament.
CEO Mohammed Yusuf says they are determined to have the games played this week as they don’t want to incur more costs to the districts.
However Yusuf says with Lautoka being the ideal venue for the tournament, other sporting bodies have also made prior bookings.
“The situation is that on Friday afternoon they have a Pacific Nations Cup match and on Saturday the Fiji National Rugby League are having their local finals. We have also engaged with the Lautoka City Council who will talk to the FNRL and possibly move their finals to 1pm and clearing out by 4pm. Then we can have the two semifinals kicking off at 6pm and 8pm on Saturday and have the final on Sunday.”
He also says the other option is to have the semifinals on Wednesday night at Churchill Park and play the final on Sunday.
Yusuf says that Prince Charles Park, the ANZ Stadium and Lawaqa Park are all booked while Ratu Cakobau Park is unplayable.
He adds a decision will be made either on Monday or Tuesday.
