National Farmers Union president Surendra Lal has been taken in for questioning by police.
Lal was taken into custody yesterday following claims that he was threatening to disrupt the harvesting process.
The president has been vocal in media ahead of the crushing season at the Labasa Mill, claiming farmers were not given enough time to prepare.

Lal had earlier told FBC News that the 4th cane payment was received late and farmers couldn’t prepare in time for the crushing.
Crushing at the Labasa Mill began last Wednesday.
