Sydney stabbing CBD: Man attacks multiple people

Sydney CBD is in lockdown after at least one woman was stabbed at a hotel in the heart of the city.

Members of the public were filmed pinning the suspect down with chairs and a milk crate.

One female patient with a single stab wound in her upper back is being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital.

A man allegedly armed with what has been described as a machete has been taken into custody by police.

A witness told 2GB he hit a young man who ran in front of his car on York Street. He said the man, who appeared to be 23 or 24 years old, had blood on his shirt and appeared to be agitated.

The witness said the man ran off after being hit and rolling onto the front of his car.

He said he saw police with guns drawn chasing the man.
