The Suva rugby side defeated Naitasiri 29-21 in a hard-fought battle in round five of the Skipper Cup competition in Naluwai gorund in Naitasiri this afternoon.
Suva led 17- 7 at half time with Peni Matawalu scored a double and the third try from Captain Isireli Ledua.
Suva continued their momentum in the second spell with a try each from Setareki Raoba and Manueli Laqai to seal their victory.
Captain Isireli Ledua thanked his team mates for playing their hearts out until the last whistle.
“I’m really proud of how we played today. We played really well in front of the Naitasiri crowd and we managed to keep the momentum alive.”
Naitasiri Coach Koli Sewabu says it was disappointing that they lost the game but they will regroup for their next match.
“We didn’t follow our game plan and the Suva team really played very well today and we need to sit down and see what needs to be fixed and get it done before next Saturday.”
Looking at other match results, Malolo beat Navosa 30-20, Rewa upset Nadi 24-23 while Namosi defeated Nadroga 26-17.
