16 players eligible for Flying Fijians debut against Barbarians

Tevita Ikanivere, Samuela Tawake ,Temo Mayanavanua ,Tevita Naqali, Viliame Rarasea, Saimoni Uluinakauvadra, Peni Matawalu, Jone Manu, Caleb Muntz, Juita Wainiqolo, Cyril Reece, Apisalome Vota, Enele Malele and Osea Waqa are in the running to be part of the match-day 23 on Sunday.

Joeli Veitayaki, Mosese Ducivaki, Asaeli Tikoirotuma, Sikeli Nabou, Johnny Dyer and Eremasi Radrodro are the other players who have featured for the Flying Fijians.

Only Mosese Voka, Frank Lomani, Eroni Mawi and Ratu Veremalua Vugakoto were part of the recent Rugby World Cup.

The national squad have had their first training run in Lensbury which was witnessed by fans.

The Flying Fijians have failed to beat the Barbarians in their last three encounters.

Fiji will play the Barbarians for the fifth time this weekend.

The only time Fiji defeated the Barbarians was during their first meeting in 1970 where the Flying Fijians ran riot in the second half.

In 2002 Fiji was beaten 24-12 while in 2013 the Flying Fijians lost 43-19.

Fiji’s biggest defeat was in 2016 when they were thrashed 40-7.

Over 50,000 fans are expected to watch the Flying Fijians in action against the Barbarians at Twickenham at 3:30am on Sunday.
