Rewa soccer troubles escalate

April 18, 2012 7:01 pm

Trouble continues to escalate within the Rewa soccer camp following the resignation of coach, Marika Rodu.

Rodu guided the side to majority of the titles on offer last season however, lack of transparency between association executives and team management prompted him to withdraw his services.

“They initially wanted me out of the team but the results were not in their favour so when I said that I was resigning, their plan of getting another coach was ready.”

Rodu claims his decision to resign as coach and player had been brewing for several weeks.

Rewa soccer’s Yogeshwar Singh has hit back at Rodu’s statements, saying the former national rep was well looked after and was given all the support he asked for.

“We have been paying Rodu $100 a week and a businessman has been giving him $50 a week and Rodu was very well looked after, When he was playing he was getting a playing allowance of $60 so what more does Rodu want?."

Manoj Kumar has been appointed as the coach and it may prove a tough task with the defending champions hosting the Fiji FACT next month.
