The New Zealand under 23 football side started its campaign for an Olympic spot on a high note with a 2-0 defeat of Solomon Islands today.

Two goals in the first half were enough to secure 3 points for the Junior All Whites.

The Pacific Games football competition will also be used for next year’s Olympics qualifiers.

Fiji is currently playing Vanuatu with both teams locked at nil all in the first spell.
