New Caledonia defeats Fiji

New Caledonia defeated Fiji two-one in the second leg of their 2018 FIFA World Cup Stage Three Qualifier tonight.

A penalty from New Caledonia’s Emile Ounei saw them lead one-nil at half-time.

Fiji regrouped in the second spell as Epeli Saukuru connected to a cross to send the ball into the net in the 66th minute of play.

Richard Sele of New Caledonia followed an attempt at goal to put them back in the lead 2-1.

Fiji finished the qualifiers with one point at the bottom of the table while New Caledonia has five points as New Zealand topped the group with 10 points.
