Goalkeeper Ben Aminio Matainaqara will have a bit more to play for when the Vodafone Fiji Football side takes on New Caledonia in the World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday.
The Lautoka stopper became dad after his wife gave birth to a baby boy last week and says he has a new reason to play for this Wednesday.
Yeah it’s a great feeling. Being a father to a son is a blessing and I am thankful to have that feeling. I will always try and do things to make my family and especially my son feel proud of me.
Matainaqara says becoming a father has been a blessing and will now turn his focus on setting examples for his son.
He says he wants his son to be proud of him when he grows up.
Fiji takes on New Caledonia at 4pm on Wednesday at Lautoka’s Churchill Park.
You can catch a live commentary of the match on Radio Fiji Two with the voice of soccer, Raymond Stoddart.
