Vuniwaqa says ‘sports has huge potential to empower women and girls and a force to amplify women’s voices’.

“You see the Ministry Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation has been supporting this Championships for a number of years. It’s firstly because of the fact that they include women’s teams in Soccer Games. It’s a game that not many women play so it’s basically advocating for the empowerment of women in sports. Also because of the fact that there are certain platforms that can be used very effectively to pass forward messages that we feel strongly about.”

Meanwhile, the Futsal quarter-finals will be played this afternoon, and the semi-finals and final will be played tomorrow at the National Hockey Center in Laucala, Suva.
