Fiji baseball team off to NZ

The Fiji Under-15 Baseball Team has been drawn in a tough pool for the Oceania Championship in Auckland, New Zealand next week.

The youngsters who are entering the championship for the first time are pooled with giants Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia.

Team Manager Inoke Niubalavu, says they are expected to face a stiff competition against New Zealand and Australia.

“Australia and New Zealand are totally different teams’ altogether in terms of the baseball standard in the region. This is our long term goal development and this is our first test on how we compete against these giants.”

The Oceania Baseball Championship runs from the 18th to the 21st of this month.

The winner will then represent Oceania at the Under 15 Baseball World Cup come July in Panama.
