The Vodafone Fiji 7s team landed last evening after participating in the Dubai and Cape Town tournaments.

The team received a cheque of 15 thousand dollars from their major sponsors as bonus of reaching the final in the Dubai 7s.

Skipper Osea Kolinisau says there is a lot to work on and the hope of defending the Sevens World is still alive.

“Two years back we went and lost in Dubai and Cape Town but we went to win the series and I told the boys it’s just start of the series it’s not a speed race it’s a marathon and we just finished two tournaments, there is eight more to go and I told the boys there is a lot of positives.”

Coach Nacanieli Cawanibuka says the team needs to work on its defence and other areas in-order to improve before the next leg.

“There is a lot of work on obviously the teams scored a lot of points against us so that’s an area that we will have to work on in terms of defence but these boys really worked hard in those two weeks and last week in Cape Town we lost a single game in the extra time and that was our tournament.”

The Fiji 7s team is expected to go into camp next month to prepare for the Wellington and Sydney 7s.

The side is pooled with Dubai and series leaders South Africa, Australia and Japan in the Wellington 7s.
