FABA to host regional course

February 2, 2016 5:00 pm

The Fiji Amateur Boxing Association (FABA) is in talks with its world governing body, the International Boxing Association (AIBA) to host a regional referee and judge’s course in the country this year.

FABA president, Manasa Baravilala says the organization is honoured to be considered as a venue since Fiji is among the lowest-ranked countries in the region.

The regional course will run alongside a course for local boxing coaches.

“So this will kick off in April 20th-24th. It’s a four-day course and we will have Level Three coaches, who are AIBA certified. They will come here from overseas to conduct this course. So we will have the referee and judge’s course and the boxing coach’s course running simultaneously.”

Meanwhile the first Summer Series boxing event of the year will be held next Saturday at the National Fitness Centre in Suva.
