Over two million dollars has been allocated to the Ministry of Sports from the 2018/19 National Budget for the development of the rural sports complex.
Minister for Sports, Laisenia Tuitubou, says the grant will enable them to start the third phase of the construction of the stadium in Vunisea, Kadavu.
Tuitubou says they have constructed the ground plus the embankment and now they are moving on to the final stage of the project.
“We have finished phase one and phase two and now we will start phase three and it will be built by the Ministry of Infrastructure. The third phase is the construction of the small wooden stadium and a multi-purpose court.”
The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
He adds plans are also in the pipeline to establish modern sports facilities around the country.
