Some new players will be trialled in upcoming international 7s tournaments.

Fiji Airways 7s coach Gareth Baber says they have three months to reset and regroup before defending their series title.

But Baber says before that, the national side will feature in some tournaments including the Pacific Games in Samoa next month.

The national coach says for now the team deserve a break before they are called in again.

‘There’s the Pacific games which obviously we’ll prep for and there’s the Octoberfest in Germany which is another tournament we’ll be using that to grow more players potentially take players overseas with us and see exactly how they behave and how they are in pressure situations and ultimately our training will go running alongside for the next three months to build these players where they need to be to go and make an assault on the HSBC series foremost and Olympics after that’

Team Captain Paula Dranisnikula says now it will be tough for the current players to make the Olympics squad.

‘It will be a tough challenge, it will be tough for the boys for the next season due to Olympics due to some big names are knocking on the door to come in and represent Fiji for the Olympics so it will be a tough competition for the boys’.

Dranisinuka also thanked the fans for believing and praying for them and he hopes it will continue.
