$8.5 million boost for FNU sporting complex

The construction of an $8.5 million sports complex for Fiji National University is underway at the Nasinu Campus in Suva.

FNU’s Vice-Chancellor Nigel Healey signed the contract with Fortech Construction Limited yesterday.

Healey says the new sports complex will be a state of the art facility designed to boost student’s performances in various sporting events.

Healey says they plan to provide better service in training young people to excel in rugby, soccer, basketball, netball and other sports.

“So it’s a state of the art sports complex, it has indoor basketball court, designed for sports like badminton, basketball, netball, volleyball, for national and international standard. It will have four flat multi-purpose exercise room, for exercise classes and a very large cardiovascular facility weight training, running machine and so on.”

The construction of the complex is expected to finish at the end of the year.
