13 gold medals on offer in PNG

Today’s competition at the Pacific Games will see with four lawn bowls titles and nine athletics events to be decided.

In bowls, the finals of the men’s singles and fours along with the women’s pairs and triples will be decided.

The finals in the men’s and women’s 400m, men’s 1500m and women’s 10000m will take place with the men’s hammer throw and pole vault and the women’s discuss.

The first round of golf is also underway, while in beach volleyball, the Fiji men are playing PNG and take on Northern Marianas at 4pm.

In hockey, the Fiji women play Vanuatu at 3pm, while the men face PNG at 7.30pm.

In indoor volleyball, Fiji women play Wallis and Futuna at 5pm and the men take on New Caledonia at 7pm.

The Fijians take on the Cook Islands in netball at 7pm.

On the official medal tally, Fiji is now fourth with 25 gold, 32 silver and 25 bronze medals.

PNG still leads with 49 gold, 39 silver and 37 bronze medals, while New Caledonia is second with 44 gold, 37 silver and 35 bronze.

Tahiti is third on 29 gold and 24 silver and 24 bronze.
