Residents of land slide prone areas such as Veisari, Namuka-I-Lau and Naboro in Lami did not hesitate to cast their votes today even though it was raining heavily.

Veisari resident Govind Swami says it was vital for him to vote today.

“I was happy to come and vote, it’s important to vote because these are the people that will lead our country. Whoever wins election, run the country peacefully. Everyone needs happiness in this country.”

First time voter, Grace Komaisoso says she was looking forward to this day as this is the first time for her to take part in democratic elections.

Komaisoso says she’s happy that she can now vote for a political party that she thinks can lead the country.
