Sugar mills crush around 1.4m tonnes of cane

The three sugar mills have crushed close to one point four million tonnes of cane this season.

Out of this over one hundred and thirty four tonnes of sugar was produced.

The tonnes of cane per tonnes of sugar stands at 9.9.

A statement from the Fiji Sugar Corporation shows 98 percent of the cane were crushed at the Lautoka Sugar Mill which ended earlier this week.

Meanwhile, Rarawai Mill in Ba closes next Saturday while Labasa Sugar Mill will finish crushing by the second week of November.
