The Fiji Commerce Commission has finalized the new shipping fares and freight rates which will be effective from 1st of July.

In 2012 the cabinet had agreed to review the current structure which the Commission had to undertake.

Initially there was no proper fare structure for the government vessels and private shipping companies.

Adults traveling to Kadavu from Suva will now pay $46 and travelers going to Koro from Suva will pay $55.

For adults traveling to Lomaiviti will now pay $71.

Commission chief executive officer Bobby Maharaj says the fares and freight charges are under price control and all operators are required to use and maintain the standard rates for all cargo’s.
