President tours Agriculture research station

President Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote visited the Nacocolevu research station in Sigatoka yesterday to see its latest work.

He was briefed about farming, planting and other programs such as the Cane Coastal Farmer’s Cooperative.

He was also updated on the new livestock breeds the ministry has delved into.

This includes the new breeds of chicken, the Anglo Nubian and Young Buck goats.

The President also got updated with the calves and cattle from the embryo transfer program pioneered in December last year.

His Excellency – an avid farmer also toured the research station’s nursery to see some of the newly introduced fruit variety.
